Nutkin Sock by Beth LaPensee

Nutkin Sock by Beth LaPensee

I just made my first Nutkin Sock and love it!  It's a lovely design and an easy-to-follow pattern.  Beth LaPensee has written a wonderful pattern filled with nice details - a folded down hem at the cuff and a three needle bind off at the toe.  There is no need to weave together stitches and the bind off adds a nice design detail.  I worked the sock in Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock in Motherlode, using two skeins in all, and think any solid or subtly striped sock yarn would be a good choice.  Other than using 3 needles instead of 4, my personal preference on socks, I worked the pattern exactly as written.  You could customize it a bit by changing the cuff to a picot-edge folded hem or using ribbing instead.  Also, if you prefer not to have any "holes" caused by the yarn overs, you might be able to substitute a make one.  Please check this to be sure it will not change the gauge.  An experienced beginner should have no trouble managing this pattern

Malabrigo Patterns

Malabrigo Gloves by Iris G.

This is a lovely pattern for some soft and warm gloves.  Make them for yourself or as a gift.  If you opt to use only one color of Malabrigo Worsted Merino you can probably get away with just two skeins.

Girl's Best Friend by Sarah Wilson

Here is a stylish and clever shrug designed by Sarah Wilson.  The back of this shrug has some surprise patterning and you can see it by clicking on this pattern link.  What a lovely design detail.  This is a quick knit, done all in one piece using just 4 skeins of Malabrigo Worsted Merino.  No seaming, yea!  And you will learn a new skill, log cabin knitting.  This really is a girl's best friend.
